## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)BASED ON THE INVESTIGATION AND WITNESS STATEMENTS IT APPEARS THAT THE PILOT OF N6522N ATTEMPTED TO ROLL THE AIRCRAFT ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 17 AT THE SCOTT CITY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. THIS ATTEMPT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN THAT THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED ON THE MISSOURI PACIFIC RAILROAD TRACKS APPROXIMATELY .5 MILES NORTH OF THE RUNWAY (SEE MAP). INVESTIGATION OF THE AIRCRAFT WRECKAGE REVEALED NO INDICATION OF MECHANICAL IRREGULARITIES AND CONTROL SURFACE CONTINUITY WAS VERIFIED TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE. REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE LOGS INDICATES THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS WITHIN ANNUAL INSPECTION. THEREFORE, THERE ARE NO AIRWORTHINESS CONSIDERATIONS OF CONCERNS. (.19)ON MAY 15, 2001, ABOUT 2035 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A BELLANCA 14-13-3, N6522N, PILOTED BY A COMMERCIAL PILOT, WAS DESTROYED ON IMPACT WITH TERRAIN AND POST IMPACT FIRE FOLLOWING A MANEUVER NEAR SCOTT CITY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (2K9), NEAR SCOTT CITY, KANSAS. THE PERSONAL FLIGHT WAS OPERATING UNDER 14 CFR PART 91. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS ON FILE. THE PILOT WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE LOCAL FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM 2K9 AT TIME UNKNOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI01LA137](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI01LA137), May 16, 2001: Bellanca 14-13-3 (N6522N), Scott City, KS, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The low level roll maneuver the pilot performed on final to runway 17 and his not maintaining clearance from terrain during the maneuver.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
