## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 16, 2001 AT 1:15 PM LOCAL TIME A GRUMMAN G164, N970X, PILOTED BY A COMMERCIAL PILOT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING LANDING AT CASSELTON, ND. THE AIRPLANE GROUND LOOPED AND THE GEAR BUCKLED UPON EXITING THE RUNWAY. VFR CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE ACCIDENT TIME AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED BY THE SOLE OCCUPANT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI01LA134](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI01LA134), May 16, 2001: Air Tractor G-164A (N970X), Casselton, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control of the airplane while recovering from a bounced landing. A factor was the collapse of the right main landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
