## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FLIGHT WAS RETURNING TO GRASS VALLEY AFTER A LOCAL FLIGHT FOR REFUELING AT AUBURN, CALIFORNIA. THE PILOT STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE AIRPLANE. DURING LANDING AT THE NORMAL APPROACH SPEED, THE BOTTOM JUST FELL OUT AND THEY LANDED VERY HARD, BREAKING AND BENDING THE NOSE GEAR AFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX01LA187](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX01LA187), May 19, 2001: Bennett Glastar (N241GS), Grass Valley, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to arrest the excessive descent rate. A contributing factor was the gusty wind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
