## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)PIC HAD PERFORMED ABOUT FOUR HOURS OF GROUND AND HOVER FLIGHT TESTING ON THE HELICOPTER. DURING THE LAST CHECK AFTER HOVING FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES, AN INDICATION OF A ENGINE RPM INCREASE WAS NOTCIED. PIC REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND LANDED. UPON LANDING PIC NOTICED FUEL LEAKING AND FLAMES. PIC RETRIEVED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. TO NO AVAIL, THE FIRE COMPLETELY ENGULFED THE HELO. THE HELICOPTER WAS A TOTAL LOSS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
