## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)PILOT STATED THAT ON TAKE OFF, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AT APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET AGL, SO HE ELECTED TO ATTEMPT TO LAND THE AIRPLANE ON THE REMAINING RUNWAY, AS THERE WERE TREES IN HIS EXTENDED FLIGHT PATH. HE SUBSEQUENTLY HIT A FENCE BEYONG THE RUNWAY AND CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE MAIN ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED, BUT HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO SELECT THE BAVK UP PUMP AND RE-START THE ENGINE. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI01LA158](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI01LA158), Jun 9, 2001: Packwood Packwood 1 (N2402F), Pierce City, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: an engine failure during initial climbout and the fence struck during the runway overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
