## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2001, NORTHWEST AIRLINES, FLIGHT 275, DEPARTED ALB FOR DTW AND THE LEFT HAND ENGINE OIL QUANTITY WAS NOTICED TO BE DECREASING. THE PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE REMAINED NORMAL. THE CREW ELECTED TO LAND IN BUF BEFORE SHUT-DOWN OF THE ENGINE BECAME NECESSARY. MAINTENANCE FOUND A STUD AND NUT MISSING FROM THE ENGINE GEARBOX. A STUD WAS INSTALLED AND ALL STUDE RE-TORQUED. THE ENGINE WAS RUN AND LEAK-CHECKED. MAINTENANCE ALSO CHANGED THE OIL FILTER AND CHECKED THE MAGNETIC PLUG. ALL CHECKS WERE SATISFACTORY AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
