## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 06/28/01, SHORTLY AFTER 0800 CST, MR. PERRY DEPARTED TRADEWIND AIRPORT IN AMARILLO, TEXAS EN-ROUTE TO SHAMROCK, TEXAS. MR. PERRY STATED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 0.2 HOURS AFTER TAKE-OFF HE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER AND A ROUGHNESS IN THE ENGINE. HE CONTACTED APPROACH CONTROL AT AMARILLO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (AMA) AND REQUESTED EMERGENCY CLEARANCE TO LAND. AFTER BEING GRANTED CLEARANCE MR. PERRY EXECUTED A SHORT FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 22 AT AMA, AND SHORTLY AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE AIRCRAFT RAN OFF OF THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO A SHALLOW DITH. THIS CAUSED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE TAIL CONE OF THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE REVEALED AN EXHAUST LEAK HAD MELTED A HOLE IN THE ENGINE INTAKE CROSSOVER TUBE. THIS CREATED A MAJOR MANIFOLD LEAK CAUSING THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
