## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. RALPH F. SORRELS WAS GIVING MR. JAMES E. STERMER A CHECKOUT FLIGHT IN THE CESSNA 172 FOR CLASSIC AVIATION. AFTER THE AIRCRAFT WAS INSTRUCTED TO "TAXI INTO POSITION AND HOLD" THE PILOT PROCEEDED ONTO THE RUNWAY AND APPLIED PRESSURE TO BOTH BRAKES. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT WITH THE PROPELLER STRUCK A RUNWAY EDGE LIGHT. DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER WAS MINOR. BRAKE SYSTEM WAS INSPECTED AND OPS CHECK WAS NORMAL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
