## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 14, 2001, AT 1630 ADT, A CESSNA 172K, N78254, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING AN ABORTED TAKEOFF FROM THE WASILLA AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATED AS AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT. DURING AN INTERVIEW WITH THE STUDENT PILOT, SHE STATED SHE HAD BEEN PRACTICING TOUCH AND GOES. SHE SAID SHE LANDED LONG ON THE SECOND TOUCHDOWN, ELECTED TO MAKE A FULL STOP LANDING, AND TAXIED BACK TO RUNWAY 03. ON THE SUBSEQUENT TAKEOFF, SHE FELT THE PLANE DID NOT SEEM LIKE IT WANTED TO LIFT OFF, SO SHE ABORTED THE LANDING, AND APPLIED HEAVY BRAKING. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND THEN OFF THE RUNWAY, NOSING OVER IN SOFT TERRAIN. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING, FORWARD FUSELAGE AND FIREWALL AREA, AND COWL AND PROPELLER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
