## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 07/23/01, AT 1430 CDT, A DEHAVILLAND DHC-2 MKI OWNED AND OPERATED BY USDA FOREST SERVICE (MINNESOTA DNR FORESTRY DIVISION) ENROUTE FROM GRAND RAPIDS, MN TO TWO HARBORS, MN. EXPERIENCED JAMMED AILERON CONTROLS. THE PILOT LANDED WITH OUT INCIDENT ON LAKE POKEGAMA NEAR GRAND RAPIDS, MN. UPON LANDING ON ROUGH WATER THE AILERONS FREED UP. MAINTANANCE PERSONNEL HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE JAMMED CONTROL ALTHOUGH THEY SUSPECT THAT A FOREIGN OBJECT FELL INTO THE LOWER CONTROL YOKE CHAIN AND SPROCKET UNDER THE FLOOR OF THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS DISLODGED DURING THE LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
