## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MONDAY, JULY 23, 2001, AT 0930 EDT, A LEARJET 24, N101VS, LANDED AT BUFFALO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AFTER REPORTING THE LEFT ENGINE FIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. THE FLIGHT CREW DISCHARGED THE FIRE BOTTLE IN FLIGHT. A SAFE LANDING WAS ACCOMPLISHED. FIRE AND RESCUE RESPONDED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED TO THE RAMP WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE MECHANICS PERFORMED AN INSPECTION ON THE FIRE DETECTION, INDICATING SYSTEM AND REMOVED AND REPLACED THE #1 ENGINE FIRE CONTROL DETECTION UNIT. THE OPERATIONAL CHECK WAS SATISFACTORY AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
