## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) CREW HAD DELAYED DEPARTURE FOR 1+30 HOURS AS SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MOVED THROUGH THE DIA AIRPORT. AIRCRAFT FINALLY DEPARTED ON RUNWAY 17 WITH WINDS REPORTED AT 110/18 GUST 31. CREW NOTED THAT THE TAILSKID LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER TAKEOFF. CREW WAS NOTIFIED BY AFT FLIGHT ATTENDANT OF A STRANGE NOISE ON TAKEOFF. CREW THEN ELECTED TO RETURN AND LAND AT DIA. THE MISSING TAILSKID SHOE AND AFT AIRSTAIR SKIN DAMAGE WAS FOUND AT THAT TIME. THE COMPANY MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL REPORTED THAT THEY INTERVIEWED THE CREW AND REVIEWED PROPER SEVERE WEATHER TECHNIQUES WITH THE CREW.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
