## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON THURSDAY, JULY 26, 2001, PILOT GLEN DAVIS OF GRUMMAN AMERICAN AIRCRAFT N70GD, WAS FLYING CROSS-COUNTRY WHEN HE NOTICED A DROP IN THE AIRCRAFT'S VOLTAGE AND THOUGHT HE SMELLED BURNING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PILOT DECIDED TO LAND AT ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (ROC), NEW YORK. THE PROBLEM WAS TROUBLESHOT BY PIEDMONT AVIATION AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS THE PROBLEM. THE FSDO WAS NOTIFIED BY THE COMM CENTER. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
