## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)UPON ARRIVAL AT THE SAME POND IN WHICH ANOTHER HELICOPTER WAS ALREADY PICKING UP WATER, THE PILOT DID NOT SEE THE HOVERING HELICOPTER BELOW DUE TO SMOKE FROM THE NEARBY FOREST FIRE. THE IMPACT FROM THE LOWER HELICOPTER MAIN BLADES RESULTED IN THE WATER BUCKET CABLE BEING CUT OFF. THE HELICOPTER WAS FLOWN TO A LANDING SITE AND LANDED SAFELY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN01TA134](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN01TA134), Jul 31, 2001: Bell 212 (N911VR), Jackson, WY, no damage. Probable cause: the Bell 212 helicopter pilot's inadequate visual lookout which resulted in a midair collision.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
