## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FLIGHT 530, A B-737-5H4 FROM ABQ-LAX WAS TAXIING TO GATE 6 AFTER LANDING AT LAX. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE BLOCK-IN MARKS FOR GATE 6, THE MARSHALING GROUND HANDLER LOST SIGHT OF THE LEFT WING WHILE CONCENTRATING ON THE POSITION OF THE NOSE TIRES AS THEY APPROACHED THE MARK. THE LEFT WING TIP STRUCK A SKY CHEF CATERING TRUCK THAT WAS POSITIONED APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET INSIDE THE SAFETY ZONE FOR GATE 6. THE CATERING TRUCK WAS AWAITING ANOTHER AIRCRAFT INBOUND TO GATE 8. SOUTHWEST MARSHALLERS ATTEMPTED TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THE NOSE MARSHALLER TO STOP MOTION OF THE AIRCRAFT BUT WERE OBSCURED FROM HIS VIEW BY THE POSITION OF THE JETBRIDGE. THE WING TIP POSITION LIGHT LENS, STROBE LIGHT ASSEMBLY, POSITION LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND OUTER RIB SUSTAINED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
