## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)THE PILOT STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED A POWER LOSS AT 500 FEET ALTITUDE, PARALLEL TO THE SOUTH SHORE OF THE JAMES RIVER. HE ATTEMPTED TO AUTO-ROTATE TO A FIELD. HE WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THE FIELD AND INSTEAD TURNED TO LAND ON ROUTE 659. THE HELICOPTER STALLED, AND HE LANDED IN A DITCH PARALLEL TO ROUTE 659.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD01LA091](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD01LA091), Aug 4, 2001: Delbridge Rotorway Exec 162F (N113RD), Carrollton, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: pilot's inadequate fuel consumption calculations, which resulted in a loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
