## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON APPROACH FOR LANDING, ON SHORT FINAL, AIRCRAFT MADE AN UNCOMMANDED YAW TO THE RIGHT. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO TURN RIGHT TO STOP YAW AND MANEUVERED AWAY FROM THE PLATFORM. WHEN INCREASED POWER WAS APPLIED, THE A/C WENT INTO AN UNCONTROLLABLE AND RAPID SPIN TO THE RIGHT, PROMPTING THE PILOT TO CLOSE THE THROTTLE AND ATTEMPT TO STOP THE SPIN. THIS SLOWED BUT DID NOT STOP THE SPIN. THE PILOT APPLIED COLLECTIVE AS THE A/C SETTLED AND IMPACTED THE WATER, ROLLED AND SANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW01LA172](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW01LA172), Aug 5, 2001: Bell 206-L1 (N2755N), Wc 173, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain yaw control of the helicopter during approach.

## Other reports on N2755N (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910118008559I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910118008559I), Jan 18, 1991: Bell 206L1 (N2755N), Houma, LA, Minor damage. Power lost on descent. Emergency landing on road. Unable to find cause.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
