(-23) ON AUGUST 7, 2001 AIR MIDWEST FLIGHT #5503, TAIL NUMBER N165YV WAS ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 28R AT PIT WHEN THE CREW NOTED THAT THE RIGHT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW (50 PSI AND DROPPING). THE CREW THEN SECURED THE RIGHT ENGINE AS PER THE QRH IN-FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AND ARFF RESPONDED, THE PASSENGERS WERE DE-PLANED AND BUSED TO THE RAMP. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN TOWED TO THE RAMP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE POWER SECTION OF THE ENGINE NEARLY SEIZED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ONLY TWO (2) QUARTS LOW ON OIL. AN SDR WAS INITIATED BY THE OPERATOR AND FORWARDED TO THE CHDO.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
