## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FXE AT ABOUT 1943L. THE PILOT STARTED LOSING POWER. HE TURNED THE BOOST PUMP OFF, THEN ON AND POWER WAS FURTHER REDUCED. PUMPED THE THROTTLES A COUPLE TIMES, LEANED THE MIXTURE, THEN FULL RICH -NOTHING HELPED TO RETURN THE ENGINE TO FULL POWER. HE LANDED ANDREWS AVENUE AND CYPRESS CREEK ROAD INTERSECTION. INVESTIGATION AT FXE REVEALED THE THROTTLE CABLE SEPARTED FROM THE SHAFT AT THE CARBURETOR WITH NO EVIDENCE IT HAD BEEN SECURED WITH THE REQUIRED SAFETY-WIRE (AD 720605).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA01LA210](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA01LA210), Aug 7, 2001: Mooney M20C (N78933), Fort Lauderdale, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the mechanic who installed the carburetor after overhaul to safety the throttle linkage at the carburetor per an Airworthiness Directive resulting in separation of the throttle linkage…

## Other reports on N78933 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19800502043889I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19800502043889I), May 2, 1980: Mooney M20C (N78933), Ft Lauderdale, FL, Minor damage. Ran out of fuel and landed short of runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
