## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT HAD BEEN ENGAGED IN 14 CFR PART 137 AERIAL APPLICATION FOR SEVERAL FLIGHTS ON THIS DATE PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. WITNESSES OBSERVED THE AIRCRAFT MAKING A HIGH SPEED PASS DOWNWIND APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET OVER THE RUNWAY AND ENTER AN ABRUPT PULL UP AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FURTHER OBSERVED TO ENTER A LEFT TURN AT A HIGH CLIMB ANGLE. THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED OVER, DESCENDED STEEPLY AND CRASHED. A FIRE ERUPTED ON IMPACT AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED AND THE PILOT SUFFERED FATAL INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI01LA273](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI01LA273), Aug 11, 2001: Grumman G-164B (N48624), Hazelton, ND, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: the pilot's ostentatious display when he performed a low level manuever and stalled the airplane.

## Other reports on N48624 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19801010049749A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19801010049749A), Oct 10, 1980: Grumav G164B (N48624), Portland, TN, Substantial damage. Ag pilot stalled airplane during procedure turn during seeding operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
