## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, 2001, PIPER J3C65, NC6153H, WHILE OPERATED BY MICHAEL J. KORFF, DEPARTED RUNWAY 27, A 1650' LONG GRASS RUNWAY AT THE ROYALTON AIRPORT, GASPORT, NY. THE WIND WAS CALM AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS 81 DEGREES WITH THE AIRCRAFT OPERATING VERY CLOSE TO THE MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT. A HANGAR AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY WAS AN OBSTACLE AND THE AIRCRAFT APPARENTLY STALLED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLIMB OVER IT AND DROPPED INTO ANOTHER HANGAR BEYOND THE FIRST. THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED AND THE PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC01LA208](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC01LA208), Aug 11, 2001: Piper J3C-65 (N6153H), Gasport, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to obtain a proper climb airspeed which resulted in an inadvertent stall and subsequent impact with a hangar.

## Other reports on N6153H (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19830704038009I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830704038009I), Jul 4, 1983: Piper J3 (N6153H), Penn Yan, NY, Minor damage. Reached for loose map and hit a hole and brakes at the same time while taxiing. Aircraft nosed up.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
