## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON AUGUST 11TH, 2001, AT APPROXIMATELY 08:30 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A PA-28-35 WAS INVOLVED IN A HARD LANDING AT DALLAS AIRPARK EAST (1F7). THE AIRCRAFT WAS REGISTERED AND OPERATED BY ONE OF TWO PILOTS ON BOARD. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER/OPERATOR, THE TWO PILOTS WERE PRACTICING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS. THE FLIGHT INTITIATED FROM MESQUITE HUDSON AIRPORT WHERE ONE TOUCH AND GO WAS EXECUTED AND THE FLIGHT THEN PROCEEDED TO DALLAS AIRPARK EAST. EACH PILOT EXECUTED ONE TOUCH AND GO LANDING AT DALLAS AIRPARK EAST. THE OWNER/OPERATOR WAS SEATED IN THE LEFT SEAT AND THE RIGHT SEAT PILOT ATTEMPTED A LANDING FLARE ON RUNWAY 13. A WINDSHEAR WAS REPORTED FROM 200 DEGREES AT APPROXIMATELY 8 KNOTS THAT FORCED THE AIRCRAFT HARD ONTO THE ASPHALT RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO MAIN GEAR STRUTS, ENGINE MOUNTS, WING SKIN AND SPAR. THE AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT WAS NOT INITIALLY REPORTED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 12, 2001 BECAUSE THE OWNER BELIEVED THE AIRCRAFT AT THAT TIME DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. A DETAILED INSPECTION BY A MECHANIC AT AIRPARK EAST REVEALED ENGINE MOUNT AND WING SPAR DAMAGE. HE THEN NOTIFIED THE FAA ON 09/12/2001.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW01LA215](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW01LA215), Aug 11, 2001: Piper PA-28-235 (N235RM), Terrell, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: the flying pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during the landing flare which resulted in a hard landing. A contributing factor was the wind shear weather condition.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
