## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT DEPARTED OKLAHOMA CIY, OK (OKC) AT APPROXIMATELY 0930 CDT FOR A VFR FLIGHT TO LEBANON, MO (LBO). APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES SOUTHWEST OF BUFFALO, MO (H17), THE FUEL SUPPLY IN THE RIGHT TANK WAS DEPLETED. THE PILOT SWITCHED TO THE LEFT TANK BUT COULD NOT ESTABLISH FUEL FLOW THAT WOULD ALLOW THE ENGINE TO RESTART. A SUCCESSFUL FORCED LANDING WAS EXECUTED WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. FUEL WAS MANUALLY TRANSFERRED FROM THE LEFT TANK TO THE RIGHT TANK, AND THE AIRPLANE DEPARTED. POST-INVESTIGATION BY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FOUND THAT THE FUEL SELECTOR VALVE HAD BEEN INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN, CAUSING THE FUEL VALVE TO BE IN THE OFF POSITION WHEN THE SELECTOR INDICATED LEFT. INVESTIGATION CONTINUED TO DETERMINE WHO LAST PERFORMED MAINTENANCE IN THIS AREA. MCI-FSDO INCIDENT NUMBER CE2001IGA0061 IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
