## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER, 1, 2001, WHILE CONDUCTING A BALLOON RIDE WITH 3 PASSENGERS, AT APPROXIMATELY 1850 CDT THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS LANDING IN A FIELD IN THE DANVILLE CITY LIMITS. ABOUT 5 FEET FROM TOUCHDOWN THE PIC NOTICED A POWER LINE, VERY CLOSE. WHEN THE ENVELOPE DEFLATED IT DRAPED ACROSS THE POWER LINE. THE PIC AND ALL 3 PASSENGERS EXITED THE BASKET WITHOUT INJURY. THE POWER COMPANY WAS CALLED TO SHUT OFF POWER AND THE BALLOON WAS PULLED CLEAR OF THE LINES. THE BALLOON SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE OF A SMALL 8 INCH HOLE BURNT IN THE SCOOP, NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS NOTED. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
