## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. STUART NIEMI DEPARTED MONTGOMERY FIELD, SAN DIEGO CA. AT 10:00 A.M., SEPTEMBER 4, 2001, HIS DESTINATION WAS SANTA MONICA AIRPORT, SANTA MONICA CA. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE CHINO AIRPORT HE CONTACTED THE TOWER AND REQUESTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 21, AND ALSO INFORMED THE TOWER THE LANDING GEAR HAD A MALFUNCTION. HIS REQUEST WAS GRANTED, AND MR. NIEMI LANDED WITH THE LANDING GEAR IN THE UP POSITION. DURING THE POST AIRCRAFT INSPECTION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE NOSE LANDING GEAR DOOR, HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR HAD FAILED, AND THE ENTIRE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR WAS DEPLETED. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE AND THE SINGLE OCCUPANT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
