## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2001, AT ABOUT 7:15 PM CENTRAL STANDARD TIME N11843 AN EXPERIMENTAL CHALLENGER AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED ENGINE FAILURE AND LOSS OF POWER DURING FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 20 AT PELL CITY, AL. THE PILOT REPORTEDLY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND CONTINUED TO GLIDE TOWARD THE RUNWAY, LOSING AIRSPEED AND ALTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT DROPPED TO THE GROUND COLLAPSING THE NOSE GEAR AND BOTH MAIN LANDING GEARS. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
