## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2001, AT APPROXIMATELY 1100, SHORTLY AFTER TAKE-OFF FROM JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT, SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, A BOMBARDIER CHALLENGER CL-600, N50PA, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO THE AIRCRAFT MAIN ENTRY DOOR OPENING IN FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO JOHN WAYNE AND LANDED SAFELY WITH THE ENTRY DOOR STILL ATTACHED AND FULLY OPEN. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
