## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2001, LEONARD KRAGNESS WAS ON A PRIVATE BUSINESS FLIGHT FROM 3AK3 TO ISABEL PASS. PILOT IN COMMAND ENCOUNTERED UNFORCAST SNOW AND ICING CONDITIONS AND DECIDED TO LAND AT APPROXIMATELY MILE 42 OF THE DENALI HIGHWAY TO WAIT FOR BETTER WEATHER. AFTER LANDING, WHILE TAXIING THE AIRCRAFT, PILOT IN COMMAND HIT A ROAD SIGN WITH THE LEFT WING, DAMAGING IT. PILOT IN COMMAND STATED THAT JUST PRIOR TO HITTING THE SIGN, HE APPLIED MAXIMUM BRAKING AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN AWAY FROM THE SIGN. THE PILOT STATED THAT RAIN AND SNOW ON THE WINDSHIELD MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE SIGN. THE AIRPLANE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING.
