## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPT. 28, 2001, ABOUT 13:45 ALASKA DAYLIGHT TIME (ADT), A TAILWHEEL-EQUIPPED SLEPCEV STORCH SS-MK4 EXPERIMENTAL AIRPLANE, N69UP, SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DURING A LANDING AT MERRILL FIELD, ANCHORAGE, ALASKA. THE AIRPLANE WAS BEING OPERATED AS A VISUAL FLIGHT RULES (VFR) LOCAL AREA PERSONAL FLIGHT WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. THE PRIVATE CERTIFICATED PILOT, AND HIS PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. VISUAL METEROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT MERRILL FIELD, ABOUT 13:00 ADT. THE ONWER-PILOT TOLD THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION IIC, THAT HE LOST CONTROL AND APPLIED LEFT BRAKE, BUT IT WOULD NOT STOP THE RIGHT TURN AND SKID WHICH CAUSED THE LEFT LANDING GEAR TO COLLAPSE. THE LEFT WING TIP AND THE LEFT LANDING GEAR WERE DAMAGED. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE GROUND LOOP TO OCCUR.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
