## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED HE WAS FLYING AT A LOW ALTITUDE. HE REACHED ACROSS TO ADJUST THE RIGHT SIDE AIR VENT AND LOOKED UP TO SEE THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDING. HE WAS UNABLE TO ARREST THE DESCENT PRIOR TO IMPACTING THE TERRAIN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA02LA001](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA02LA001), Oct 1, 2001: Cessna 172 (N3910F), Lindsay, MT, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain an altitude clear of terrain. A factor was intentional low altitude flight.

## Other reports on N3910F (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19860615034089I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19860615034089I), Jun 15, 1986: Cessna 172 (N3910F), Elizabethtown, KY. Pilot failed to close VFR flight plan on reaching destination. Fueled and continued.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
