## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) IGL 1920020001 - ON OCTOBER 2, 2001, AT APPROXIMATELY 0445 CDT, AN EMPLOYEE OF A NATURAL GAS STORAGE FACILITY NEAR FISHER, IL OBSERVED A HELICOPTER HOVERING ABOUT 25 FEET ABOVE A 150 FOOT TALL STORAGE TANK INSIDE THE FACILITY. WHEN THE EMPLOYEE SHINED A SPOTLIGHT AT THE HELICOPTER, IT DEPARTED THE AREA. NO REGISTRATION NUMBER COULD BE OBSERVED. ON OCTOBER 3, 2001, SECURITY GUARDS AT THE STORAGE FACILITY REPORTED A LOW FLYING AIRCRAFT TO THE CHAMPAIGN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AT APPROXIMATELY 0500 CDT. THE GUARDS REPORTED THEY SAW A STEADY WHITE LIGHT ON THE AIRCRAFT, HOWEVER, NO REGISTRATION NUMBER WAS OBSERVABLE. THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION WAS NOTIFIED AND IS CONTINUING AN INVESTIGATION OF THIS INCIDENT. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
