## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED: THIS AIRCRAFT IS NEW TO HIM AND IS A KIT BUILT THAT HE BOUGHT FROM THE BUILDER. THIS AIRCRAFT HAS AN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE INSTALLED IN IT. THE PILOT FURTHER STATED THAT UPON LANDING A GUST OF WIND CAUGHT THE AIRCRAFT AND STARTED TO MOVE IT SIDEWAYS. THE PILOT OVERCORRECTED AND THE ENGINE RESPONSE WAS NOT WHAT HE WAS USED TO. CONSEQUENTLY, THE AIRCRAFT STARTED A LEFT TURN AND DROPPED ON THE LEFT LANDING GEAR. THE DROP WAS HARD ENOUGH FOR THE GEAR TO FOLD UNDER THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT HAS BEEN COUNSELED AND HAS STARTED A REFRESHER FLIGHT TRAINING COURSE FROM A SCHOOL THAT TRAINS IN TAIL WHEELED AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
