## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ASAA FLIGHT 445 AS 982 STRUCK A CATERING TRUCK AS IT WAS BEING MARSHALLED INTO GATE C-1. THE CATERING TRUCK WAS PARKED AT GATE D-1. ACCORDING TO VERBAL REPORT FROM ASSISTANT FLEET MANAGER MD-80, THE CAPT. HAD STOPPED THE A/C BEFORE THE WING TOUCHED THE CATERING TRUCK, HE WAS ASSURED THAT THE WING WOULD CLEAR BY A "THUMBS UP" SIGN FROM THE MARSHALLER. THE MARSHALLER ADVISED GOS BRETT ADAMS THAT HE MADE A MISTAKE IN BRINGING THE A/C INTO THE GATE. CREW AND MARSHALLER WERE DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTED. CREW REMOVED FROM FLIGHT STATUS AWAITING RESULTS OF DRUG TEST. NTSB KIRK ANDERSON STATED THAT DUE TO VERY MINOR DAMAGE THAT NO INCIDENT NUMBER WOULD BE ASSIGNED.^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
