## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT HAD DROPPED CHECKS AT LOCAL BANK AND PICKED UP ONE PASSENGER. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO AIRPORT AND FUELED AIRCRAFT. PASSENGER CALLED HIS MOTHER AND INDICATED THEY WOULD MAKE A LOW LEVEL PASS OVER THE HOUSE. APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE FROM HOUSE, HELICOPTER COLLIDED WITH POWER LINES AT 110 FOOT. HELICOPTER CRASHED, BOTH OCCUPANTS KILLED, AND HELICOPTER DESTROYED BY POST CRASH FIRE. WITNESSES INDICATED THAT PILOT OFTEN FLEW LOW LEVEL IN THAT AREA. ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT NEAR DUSK. LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS AND FALL FOLIAGE COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PILOT FAILING TO SEE THE WIRES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL02FA003](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL02FA003), Oct 22, 2001: Bell 206B (N8104J), N. Wilkesboro, NC, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain visual lookout and clearance above obstacles, which resulted in a collision with power lines and subsequent loss of control and collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
