## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 29, 2001, N865SM A BAE 125-800, DIVERTED TO IND DUE TO A LEFT ENGINE FAILURE. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FOUND TEETH ON THE ACCESSORY DRIVE GEAR WHICH DRIVES THE FUEL AND OIL PUMP TO BE SHEARED. THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED AND SHIPPED FOR REPAIRS. A MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT IS TO BE SUBMITTED BY THE REPAIRING FACILITY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
