## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 4, 2001, AT APPROXIMATELY 1640 LOCAL TIME, PIPER PA-28-235, N4447D, STRUCK A DEER DURING ROTATION AT THE NORTH VALLEY AIRPORT IN PAONIA, COLORADO. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT THE DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT JUST AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS ROTATING. SINCE THERE WASN'T ANYONE AT THIS AIRPORT TO ASSIST HIM HE FLEW TO THE EAGLE COUNTY AIRPORT. THE TOWER AT EAGLE COUNTY AIRPORT INFORMED HIM THAT HIS LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS MISSING. HE LANDED THE AIRCRAFT AND SLID OFF THE NORTH SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS TORN OFF AND THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR SPAR ATTACHMENT POINT WAS ALSO DAMAGED. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. NO CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
