## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT HAD DEPARTED RICHFIELD, UT IN ROUTE TO SPANISH FORK, UT WHEN THE AIRCRAFT CLIPPED A 25 FT. HIGH POWER WIRE OVER I-15 NORTH BOUND, 30 MILES SOUTH OF PROVO, UT. PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS KEEPING LOW DUE TO LOW TEMPERATURES ALOFT AND A MINIMAL CABIN HEATER. THE PILOT DECIDED TO GO DOWN LOW ENOUGH TO READ A ROAD MILEAGE SIGN WHEN HE STRUCK THE POWER WIRE OVER THE FREEWAY, WHICH BROKE OUT THE WINDSHIELD. PILOT ELECTED TO LAND STRAIGHT AHEAD IN THE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY. AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. PASSENGER RECEIVED CUTS ON THE FACE FROM THE WINDSHIELD BEING BROKEN OUT ON IMPACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN02LA008](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN02LA008), Nov 8, 2001: Cessna 140 (N76975), Nephi, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance with the transmission wires while maneuvering. A contributing factor was the low altitude flight performed by the pilot.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
