## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS ON MODIFIED BASE FOR LANDING AT AG STRIP. FOR AN UNDETERMINED REASON, AIRCRAFT PITCHED DOWN THROUGH TREE LINE, AND IMPACTED THE WATER IN A SMALL RIVER. THE IMPACT SHEARED OFF THE PROPELLER ASSEMBLY, LANDING GEAR, AND HOPPER BOX. THE MOMENTUM OF THE IMPACT CARRIED THE AIRCRAFT ACROSS THE RIVER AND INTO THE TREES. THE PILOT WAS EJECTED THROUGH THE LEFT DOOR, AND PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. ALL PARTS OF THE AIRCRAFT WERE ACCOUNTED FOR, EXCEPT THE PROPELLER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW02LA034](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW02LA034), Nov 14, 2001: Air Tractor AT-802A (N202AT), Benton, LA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: in-flight collision with trees while on final approach to land for an undetermined reason.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
