## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.19) ON DECEMBER 7, 2001, AT 2315 MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME, A BEECH 90-E90, AIRPLANE, N5NM, REGISTERED TO AND OPERATED BY SEVEN BAR FLYING SERVICE INC., ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AFTER ITS LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED WHILE LANDING ON RUNWAY 01 AT THE SANTA ROSA ROUTE 66 AIRPORT, SANTA ROSA, NEW MEXICO. THE COMMERCIAL PILOT AND HIS TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. DARK NIGHT VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND A FLIGHT PLAN WAS NOT FILED FOR THE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 135 AIR TAXI MEDICAL FLIGHT. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT 1045 FROM THE ALBUQUERQUE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO. (-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT AS HE TURNED TO TELL HIS MEDICS THE AMBULANCE WAS WAITING, HE FELT THE FALSE SENSATION OF THE AIRCRAFT FALLING. HE GRABBED THE GEAR HANDLE AND "CREATED A PROBLEM THAT WASN'T THERE." HE ADMITTED TO ACTUALLY MOVING THE GEAR HANDLE, RETRACTING THE GEAR WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON THE GROUND. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT GEAR ACTUATOR JACK SHAFTS WERE SEVERED. THE ACTUATORS WERE TORN LOOSE FROM THE FLOATING BEARING MOUNTS. IN ADDITION, THE DOWNLOCK LIMIT WAS AT THE STOP WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH EXTENDING THE GEAR WITH INSUFFICIENT ALTITUDE FOR THE MAIN GEAR TO EXTEND AND LOCK. THE NOSE GEAR WAS EXTENDED AND LOCKED DUE TO THE NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW02LA056](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW02LA056), Dec 8, 2001: Beech BE-90-E90 (N5NM), Santa Rosa, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadvertent retraction of the landing gear during the landing roll which resulting in the collapse of all 3 landing gears.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
