## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 21 AT WILLIAMSON COUNTY AIRPORT, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A LARGE FLOCK OF BIRDS. THE RIGHT ENGINE QUIT. THE CREW FOLLOWED THE EMERGENCY CHECKLIST TO SECURE THE ENGINE. THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED TO CAPE GIRARDEAU (CGI) BECAUSE OF WEATHER CONDITIONS AT MWA (200 FT. OVERCAST AND 1/4 MILE), BIRDS AT MWA (A FLOCK OF OVER 100 BIRDS NEAR THE RUNWAY) AND THE WINDS DID NOT FAVOR THE ILS FOR RUNWAY 20 (320 DEGREES AT 10 KTS). THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT CGI WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
