## Narrative

(-23) THE PILOT WAS ON AN INSTRUMENT FLIGHT PLAN FROM DOTHAN, AL TO RALEIGH, NC. THE PILOT WAS CLEARED FOR THE ILS RWY 5R AT RDU. THE PILOT STAYED WELL ABOVE THE GLIDE PATH THROUGHOUT THE APPROACH AND NEVER DESCENDED BELOW 2000 FT MSL (APPROX 1400 FT. AGL). THE PILOT WAS GIVEN MISSED APPROACH INSTRUCTIONS TO FLY RUNWAY HEADING AND MAINTAIN 2000 FT. THE PILOT WAS OBSERVED IN A RIGHT TURN AND EVENTUALLY ESTABLISHED A HEADING OF 120 DEGREES. DURING THE MISSED APPROACH, THE PILOT WAS OBSERVED DESCENDING AS LOW AS 1400 FT. BEFORE ESTABLISHING 1600 FT. MSL. ATC CONTACTED THE PILOT AND INSTRUCTED HIM TO MAINTAIN A HEADING OF 120 DEGREES AND 2000 FT. MSL. THE PILOT NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED THIS FINAL HEADING AND ALTITUDE. THE PILOT DID NOT RESPOND TO ANY COMMUNICATIONS AFTER THIS TIME. RADAR CONTACT WAS LOST WITH THE AIRCRAFT AND THE WRECKAGE WAS FOUND APPROXIMATELY 2 NM SOUTHEAST OF THE AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A HOUSE AND BOTH AIRCRAFT AND HOUSE WERE CONSUMED IN FIRE.
