## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DEC. 22, 2001, FEDERAL EXPRESS FLIGHT #3186, A DC-10-10, TAIL NUMBER N390FE, DIVERTED TO PIT DUE TO #12 CABIN SMOKE INDICATION. THE CREW FOLLOWED THE QRH AND DIVERTED TO PIT, AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON RUNWAY 23R. ARFF RESPONDED, NO FIRE OR INJURIES WERE REPORTED, AND THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED TO THE RAMP WITHOUT INCIDENT. A MEL WAS OPENED ON THE #12 SMOKE DETECTOR AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RE-DISPATCHED. THE MEL WAS CLEARED THE FOLLOWING DAY BY THE REPLACEMENT OF THE #12 SMOKE DETECTOR. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
