## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT N132Z WAS DOING A MAINTENANCE FLIGHT. ON TAKE-OFF, JUST AFTER ROTATION, ABOUT 20 FEET AGL, THE PILOT NOTICED THE LEFT ENGINE ON FIRE. THE PILOT CUT POWER, LANDED AND PULLED FUEL MIXTURES AND SHUT FUEL OFF. AS OF THIS DATE, 01/25/02, FIRE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THE PILOTS TIMES WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA02FA023](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA02FA023), Jan 2, 2002: Beech 58P (N132Z), Boise, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: Improper clearance between an alternator wire and a pneumatic line and fuel fumes. The alternator wire chafe and arcing were factors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
