## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT DEPARTED A PRIVATE HUNTING RANCH NEAR AVON, MS. ENROUTE TO MONROE, LA. (MLU). HE HAD RECEIVED A WEATHER BRIEFING FROM DERIDDER AFSS AT 0825 CST FOR A FLIGHT FROM GREENVILLE, MS TO MONROE, LA. THE BRIEFER ADVISED THAT VFR FLIGHT WAS NOT RECOMMENDED. IT APPEARED THAT THE PILOT WAS MANEUVERING TO LAND AT A PRIVATE AIRPORT (27A7) NORTH OF OAK GROVE, LA. A WITNESS, WHO WAS LOCATED IN A HANGAR AT THE PRIVATE AIRPORT, STATED THAT HE HEARD THE AIRPLANE OVER FLY THE AIRPORT AT WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A "LOW ALTITUDE." THE WITNESS WENT OUTSIDE AND OBSERVED THE AIRPLANE APPROXIMATELY 1/4 OF A MILE SOUTHEAST OF THE AIRPORT AT APPROX. 300 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, IN A STEEP LEFT BANK. THE AIRPLANE THEN ENTERED A SPIN, ROTATED 1-1.5 TIMES, AND IMPACTED THE GROUND. THE WITNESS REPORTED THAT THE CLOUD BASE WAS APPROX. 500 FEET AGL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW02FA062](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW02FA062), Jan 5, 2002: Beech 95-B55 (N77RY), Oak Grove, LA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane while maneuvering resulting in an inadvertent stall/spin.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
