WHILE ON THE FLIGHT SHE ENCOUNTERED SOME BAD WEATHER CONSISTING OF BLACK CLOUDS AND TURBULENCE IN THE VICINITY OF CLEWISTON, FL. SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS LANDING TO RUNWAY 31 AT 2IS BUT IN FACT MADE AN APPROACH TO A CLOSED AIRPORT. WHILE LANDING SHE ENCOUNTERED A CROSSWIND AND LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL02LA034](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL02LA034), Jan 7, 2002: Cessna 152 (N25441), Clewiston, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's inadequate compensation for wind, and failure to maintain directional control. A contributing factor was a crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
