## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 11, 2002, AIR MIDWEST FLIGHT #5545 A BE-1900-D WAS AT FL230 WHEN THE WINDSCREEN CRACKED. THE CREW IMMEDIATELY DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND DESCENDED TO LOWER ALTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED TO BFD AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. A MAINTENANCE CREW WAS DISPATCHED AND THE WINDSCREEN REPLACED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN RETURNED TO SERVICE. LOG PAGE #81660 DATED JANUARY 11, 2002. THIS INCIDENT WAS INVESTIGATED BY DESK AUDIT AND CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
