## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THEO CHESLEY WAS THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF N9992Z, A CESSNA 206, THAT DEPARTED NELSON LAGOON (Z73) ON 01/16/2002 FOR A REPOSITION FLIGHT TO COLD BAY (CDB). UPON ARRIVAL WINDS WERE REPORTED AS 140 DEGREES AT 20 GUSTING TO 28. PILOT IN COMMAND LANDED ON RUNWAY 14 WITHOUT INCIDENT AND TRIED TO TURN OFF RUNWAY 14 BUT AS THE WIND WAS INCREASING RATHER RAPIDLY, PILOT IN COMMAND STOPPED THE AIRCRAFT. THE WIND CONTINUED TO INCREASE AS THE PILOT IN COMMAND ATTEMPTED TO KEEP THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE WIND. A STRONG GUST TURNED THE AIRCRAFT 180 DEGREES FROM THE STOPPED POSITION AND THEN TURNED IT BACK AGAIN ANOTHER 180 DEGREES. DURING THE TURNS THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO A WING TIP AND PROP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
