## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) IN CRUISE FLIGHT FORM MAGADAN RUSSIA TO NOME ALASKA DURING FLIGHT IN IFR CONDITIONS THE PILOT STATED THE PRIMARY ATTITUDE DIRECTION INDICATOR STARTED TO INDICATE A 30 DEGREE BANK AND A 20 DEGREE NOSE DOWN INDICATION IN LEVEL FLIGHT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE THEN STARTED RELYING ON THE SECONDARY ATTITUDE DIRECTION INDICATOR. THE PILOT STATED ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER THE SECONDARY ATTITUDE DIRECTION INDICATOR BLEW UP, ALTHOUGH IT WAS SELF CONTAINED WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT. THE PILOT SAID THE COMPLETION OF THE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED ON SECONDARY INSTRUMENTS AND LANDED AT NOME ALASKA WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEMS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
