## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) CAPTAIN DEPARTED FROM SFO, AND CAPTAIN REQUESTED EXTRA FUEL ABOVE DISPATCH MIN., AS HE FELT HE NEEDED EXTRA FUEL. THIS EXTRA FUEL WAS LOADED. ENROUTE TO EWR, THE FLT. WAS REROUTED TWICE, DESCENDED TO A LOWER THAN FLT. PLAN ALTITUDE , PUT INTO A HOLDING PATTERN, & THEN WAS TOLD TO SLOW DOWN WELL PRIOR TO REACHING THE TERMINAL AREA. THESE ACTIONS ALL RESULTED IN AN INCREASE IN FUEL BURN. ON THREE OCCASIONS THE CAPTAIN NOTIFIED DISPATCH HE WAS "MIN. FUEL." THEY REQUESTED THAT HE CONTINUE RATHER THAN DIVERT. HE ALSO NOTIFIED ATC THAT HE WAS MIN. FUEL FINALLY AFTER BEING GIVEN A WIDE DOWNWIND, HE WAS TURNED TO FINAL APPROACH WITH APPROXIMATELY 9000# OF FUEL. HE WAS TOLD HE WOULD HAVE TO BE VECTORED THROUGH THE FINAL APPROACH COURSE FOR SPACING, AND AT THAT TIME THE CAPTAIN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY FOR FUEL. HE WAS TURNED IN AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
