## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 30, 2002 AT 10:07 PM AT THE CHARLESTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, (KCHS), CHARLESTON, SC, DURING LANDING, ON AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH TO RUNWAY 15, WITH CALM WINDS AT TOUCH DOWN, A CL-600, N671BR, EXPERIENCED UPSETTING WAKE TURBULENCE CREATED FROM A H/C-17 POSITIONED 90 DEGREES TO RUNWAY 15 PERFORMING TAKEOFF ENGINE POWER RUNS (TRT) SENDING JET BLAST ACROSS ACTIVE RUNWAY 15. THE CROSS WIND BLAST WAS SO SIGNIFICANT THAT IT UPSET N671BR CAUSING THE PILOT OF N671BR, (WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CORRECT FROM THE CROSS WIND), TO SCRAPE THE RIGHT UNDERSIDE WING TIP. N671BR TAXIED TO THE RAMP WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE TOWER AT CHS WAS NOT AWARE OF THE H/C-17 PERFORMING ENGINE RUNS. THERE WERE 3 CREW MEMBERS AND 16 PASSENGERS ON BOARD THE CL-600, AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
